Ipswich is a port town and borough located in Suffolk, England, situated on the Orwell river. Positioned approximately 65 miles (105 km) northeast of London, it serves as the county town and is the largest urban center in Suffolk.

The town ranks as the third-largest population center in East Anglia, following Peterborough and Norwich. As of 2011, Ipswich had a population of 144,957. The built-up area is the fourth-largest in the East of England and the 42nd-largest in England and Wales, encompassing several surrounding towns and villages including Kesgrave, Woodbridge, Bramford, and Martlesham Heath.
