Hilton Head Island is a resort town located on a barrier island within the South Carolina Lowcountry. It is situated in Beaufort County, United States, approximately 20 miles northeast of Savannah, Georgia, and 95 miles southwest of Charleston.
The island serves as the principal city of the Hilton Head Island metropolitan area, which had an estimated population of 232,523 in 2023. While the year-round population was recorded at 37,661 during the 2020 census, the population can increase to approximately 150,000 during the peak summer vacation season.
