West Oak Lane is a neighborhood located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in the United States. Historically, much of the area was owned in the mid-1800s by Joseph Wharton, who was the co-founder of Bethlehem Steel and the founder of the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
While the community was predominantly Caucasian from its inception until the mid-1960s, it has since transitioned into one of Philadelphia's middle-class African American communities.
