Smethport is a borough located in McKean County, Pennsylvania, in the United States. It serves as the county seat and is situated within the Bradford, PA micropolitan statistical area. As of the 2020 census, the borough had a population of 1,436 residents.
The municipality is notable for holding the record for the coldest temperature ever recorded in Pennsylvania. This extreme temperature of −42 °F (−41 °C) occurred on January 5, 1904. The current mayor of Smethport is Wayne V. Foltz.
