Pittsburgh is a city located in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, United States. It serves as the county seat and is situated in southwestern Pennsylvania at the confluence of the Allegheny and Monongahela Rivers, which meet to form the Ohio River.
As of the 2020 census, Pittsburgh had a population of 302,971, making it the second-most populous city in Pennsylvania after Philadelphia. The surrounding metropolitan area exceeds 2.43 million people, ranking as the largest in Appalachia and the Ohio Valley, as well as the second-largest in the state.
The greater Pittsburgh–Weirton–Steubenville combined statistical area extends beyond the city limits to include portions of West Virginia and Ohio.
