Holmesburg is a neighborhood located in the Northeast section of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in the United States. It originally began as a village within Lower Dublin Township before becoming part of the city's municipal boundaries.
The area was named in honor of Thomas Holme, who served as the Surveyor General of Pennsylvania and was a cartographer. The neighborhood retains its historical identity as it transitioned from a rural township village to an urban residential district.
