Havertown is a residential suburban unincorporated community located in Haverford Township, Pennsylvania, in the United States. It is situated approximately 9 miles west of the center of Philadelphia and operates under the ZIP Code 19083. While "Havertown" serves as a postal address, it was officially coined by the U.S. Post Office and began use on January 1, 1946.
Prior to the adoption of the name Havertown, the area consisted of several distinct communities known by their local names, including Bon Air, Brookline, Penfield, Beechwood, Llanerch, Manoa, Oakmont, Coopertown, and Ardmore. Historically, these constituent communities were part of the Welsh Tract established under William Penn's land divisions.
