Pawhuska is a city located in the state of Oklahoma, United States. It serves as the county seat of Osage County and had a recorded population of 2,984 as of the 2020 census.
The city was named in honor of Paw-Hiu-Skah, a 19th-century Osage chief whose name translates to "White Hair" in English. The location remains significant to the Osage people, as it has served as the base for the Osage tribal government since its offices were established there in 1872 following the creation of the reservation in Indian Territory.
