Zanesville is a city located in Muskingum County, Ohio, in the United States. It serves as the county seat and is situated at the confluence of the Licking and Muskingum rivers. The city is positioned approximately 52 miles east of Columbus.
The city anchors the Zanesville micropolitan area and is included within the greater Columbus-Marion-Zanesville combined statistical area. Historically, Zanesville served as the state capital of Ohio from 1810 to 1812. As of the 2020 census, the city had a population of 24,765.
