Solon was an archaic Athenian statesman, lawmaker, political philosopher, and poet from ancient Greece. He is recognized as one of the Seven Sages of Greece and is historically credited with laying the foundations for Athenian democracy.
His primary contributions involved legislative efforts to address political, economic, and moral decline within Athens. Solon's constitutional reforms were significant enough to overturn most of the laws previously established by Draco.
