Lima

United States

Lima is the capital and largest city of Peru. It serves as the nation's primary political, cultural, financial, and commercial center. The metropolis is situated in the desert zone of the country's central coastal region, specifically within the valleys of the Chillón, Rímac, and Lurín Rivers, overlooking the Pacific Ocean.

Jurisdictionally, the city extends primarily within the province of Lima and a smaller western portion within the Constitutional Province of Callao. The latter area houses the Jorge Chávez Airport and the seaport. Both provinces have maintained regional autonomy since 2002.
