Green is a primary additive color in the RGB color model used for television and computer screens, alongside red and blue. On the visible spectrum, it is situated between cyan and yellow, with a dominant wavelength of approximately 495–570 nm. There are an estimated 295–350 different shades of the color.
In subtractive color systems used for painting and printing, green is produced by combining yellow and cyan. In nature, the most significant contributor to this color is chlorophyll, the chemical plants use to perform photosynthesis. Many animals utilize a green hue as camouflage to blend into these environments. Additionally, certain minerals such as emeralds appear green due to their chromium content.
