Ashtabula is the most populous city in Ashtabula County, Ohio, located in the United States. Situated at the mouth of the Ashtabula River on Lake Erie, it lies approximately 53 miles (85 km) northeast of Cleveland and serves as part of the Cleveland metropolitan area.
According to the 2020 census, the city had a population of 17,975. Like many other cities in the Rust Belt region, Ashtabula has experienced a population decline resulting from a decrease in industrial jobs since the 1960s.
