Poughkeepsie is a city located in the Hudson Valley region of New York, United States. It serves as the county seat of Dutchess County and is surrounded by the Town of Poughkeepsie. The city is situated midway between the state capital of Albany and the core of the New York metropolitan area.
According to the 2020 census, Poughkeepsie had a population of 31,577 residents. It is part of the Kiryas Joel–Poughkeepsie–Newburgh metropolitan area, which has an estimated population of 712,000. The city is served by two nearby airports: the Hudson Valley Regional Airport and Stewart International Airport in Orange County.
