Jamaica is an island country located in the Caribbean Sea. It covers a total area of 10,991 square kilometres (4,244 sq mi) and ranks as the third-largest island in both the Greater Antilles and the Caribbean region, following Cuba and Hispaniola.
The island is situated approximately 145 km south of Cuba, 191 km west of Hispaniola, and 215 km southeast of the Cayman Islands. With a population of 2.8 million people, Jamaica is the fourth most populous country in the Caribbean and the third most populous Anglophone country in the Americas.
Kingston serves as the capital and largest city of the nation.
