Coney Island

United States

Coney Island is a neighborhood and entertainment area located in the southwestern section of the Brooklyn borough in New York City, United States. It is bounded by Brighton Beach to the east, Lower New York Bay to the south and west, and Gravesend to the north. The area includes the subsection of Sea Gate on its western side.

The broader Coney Island peninsula is composed of Coney Island proper, Sea Gate, Brighton Beach, and Manhattan Beach. Historically, it was the westernmost of the Outer Barrier islands on the southern shore of Long Island; however, land fill in the early 20th century connected the area to the rest of the island.
