Yerington is a city located in Lyon County, Nevada, within the United States. As of the 2020 census, the city had a population of 3,121 residents.
The city serves as the current county seat of Lyon County. While the first county seat was established at Dayton on November 29, 1861, Yerington eventually took over this role. The municipality is named in honor of Henry M. Yerington, who served as the superintendent of the Virginia and Truckee Railroad from 1868 to 1910.
