Carrizozo is a town located in Lincoln County, New Mexico, in the United States. It serves as the county seat and is situated at the intersection of U.S. Routes 54 and 380. As of the 2020 census, the town had a population of 972.
Founded in 1899, Carrizozo originally served as the primary railroad access point for Lincoln County. The town experienced significant population growth during the early decades of the 1900s; however, it has seen a gradual decline in population following the decreasing relevance of the railroad.
