Tecumseh was a Shawnee chief and warrior who is primarily known for leading resistance against the expansion of the United States into Native American lands. A persuasive orator, he traveled extensively to form a Native American confederacy and promote intertribal unity.
Although his efforts to unite Native Americans concluded with his death in battle during the War of 1812, Tecumseh remains a significant historical figure. He is recognized as a folk hero within American, Indigenous, and Canadian popular history.
