Omaha is the most populous city in the U.S. state of Nebraska and serves as the county seat of Douglas County. It is located in the Midwestern United States along the Missouri River, situated approximately 10 miles north of the mouth of the Platte River.

According to the 2020 census, Omaha had a population of 486,051, with an estimated population of 488,797 in 2025, making it the 42nd-most populous city in the United States. The surrounding Omaha–Council Bluffs metropolitan area extends into Iowa and contains approximately 1 million residents, ranking as the 55th-largest metropolitan area in the country.
