The Mandan are a Native American tribe from the Great Plains who have inhabited the region for centuries. Their primary historical territory is located in what is currently known as North Dakota.
Today, the Mandan are enrolled members of the Three Affiliated Tribes of the Fort Berthold Reservation. While approximately half of the Mandan population continues to reside within the reservation area, the remaining members live across various locations throughout the United States and Canada.
