Cooperstown is a village located in the Central New York Region of the United States. It serves as the county seat of Otsego County and is situated at the foot of Otsego Lake. The village's territory primarily lies within the town of Otsego, though its eastern portion extends into the town of Middlefield.
Geographically, Cooperstown is positioned approximately 60 miles west of Albany, 67 miles southeast of Syracuse, and 145 miles northwest of New York City. As of the 2020 census, the village had a population of 1,794 residents.
