Tarboro is a town located in North Carolina, United States. It serves as the county seat of Edgecombe County and is situated near the western edge of the state's coastal plain. The town is positioned on the opposite bank of the Tar River from Princeville.
As part of the Rocky Mount metropolitan area and the Rocky Mount-Wilson-Roanoke Rapids CSA, Tarboro had a population of 10,721 as of the 2020 census. The town is characterized by its historical churches, some of which date back to 1742. Additionally, it serves as the headquarters for World Cat Boats, a global catamaran boat manufacturer.
