Hertford is the county town of Hertfordshire, England. It is also designated as a civil parish within the East Hertfordshire district of the same county. The town is located approximately 20 miles (32 km) north of Charing Cross in central London.
According to the 2021 census, the parish had a population of 29,418, while the built-up area recorded a population of 28,800. The town serves as a primary administrative and residential hub for its surrounding district.
