Bolivia, officially known as the Plurinational State of Bolivia, is a landlocked country situated in central South America. It shares borders with Brazil to the north and east, Paraguay to the southeast, Argentina to the south, Chile to the southwest, and Peru to the west.
The nation's geography is characterized by diverse environments, including an Andean region to the west and tropical lowlands to the east and north. Notable features include the high-altitude Altiplano plateau, snow-capped peaks, temperate valleys, the Gran Chaco, and parts of the Amazonian plain. The country also encompasses part of the Pantanal, which is the world's largest tropical wetland.
Bolivia maintains a dual administrative structure: La Paz serves as the seat of government for the executive, legislative, and electoral branches, while Sucre is the constitutional capital and seat of the judiciary. While many urban centers are located in the Andean region, Santa Cruz de la Sierra stands as the largest city and primary industrial center within the eastern tropical lowlands.
