Kansas City, abbreviated as KC or KCMO, is the largest city in the U.S. state of Missouri by both population and land area. It is situated on the Missouri River at its confluence with the Kansas River, spanning across Jackson, Clay, Platte, and Cass counties.
As of the 2020 census, the city had a population of 508,090, making it the 37th-most populous city in the United States and the sixth-most populous city in the Midwest. The surrounding Kansas City metropolitan area straddles the Missouri–Kansas state line and serves as the 31st-most populous metropolitan area in the nation with approximately 2.25 million residents.
