Carthage

United States

Carthage was an ancient city located in northern Africa on the eastern side of the Lake of Tunis, in the region that is now modern-day Tunisia. According to legend, the city was founded by the Phoenician queen Dido.

The city served as one of the most affluent locations of the classical world and a primary trading hub within the Ancient Mediterranean. It functioned as the capital city for both the civilization of Ancient Carthage and later Roman Carthage.
