Fridley is a city located in Anoka County, Minnesota, within the United States. It serves as a northern "first-ring" or "inner-ring" suburb of the Minneapolis–Saint Paul metropolitan area and borders the city of Minneapolis to its southwest.
The area was originally settled as Manomin at the point where Rice Creek flows into the Mississippi River and the Red River Oxcart trail crosses the creek. The community was incorporated as a village in 1949 before officially becoming a city in 1957. Most of the city's growth took place between 1950 and 1970.
As of the 2020 census, Fridley had a population of 29,590. It is situated near several other first-ring suburbs, including Columbia Heights to the south and Brooklyn Center to the west, across the Mississippi River.
