Royal Oak refers to an English oak tree located within Boscobel Wood, which was part of the park of Boscobel House. It is historically significant as the hiding place for the future King Charles II of England following the Battle of Worcester in 1651.
According to accounts provided by Charles II to Samuel Pepys in 1680, a Parliamentarian soldier passed directly beneath the tree while the King was concealed inside. The story gained widespread popularity after the Restoration and is commemorated annually in English traditions as Royal Oak Day.
