Dundalk is the county town of County Louth, located in the province of Leinster in Ireland. The town is situated on the east coast of the country along the Castletown River, which flows into Dundalk Bay.
Geographically, the town is positioned approximately halfway between Dublin and Belfast. It lies 7 km (4.3 mi) south of the border separating the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. The wider Dundalk Municipal District consists of the town surrounded by several surrounding townlands and villages.
