Nantucket is an island located in Massachusetts, United States. It is situated approximately 30 miles (48 km) south of the Cape Cod peninsula and serves as the southeasternmost town in the state.
The island, along with the smaller islands of Tuckernuck and Muskeget, constitutes the Town and County of Nantucket, which operates under a combined county/town government. The name "Nantucket" is derived from similar Algonquian names for the landmass.
