Minden is a middle-sized town located in the northeastern part of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It serves as the capital of the district of Minden-Lübbecke and is situated within the administrative region of Detmold and the cultural region of Ostwestfalen-Lippe (OWL). The town is notable for being the largest population center located between Bielefeld and Hanover.
The geography of the town is defined by its position along both sides of the River Weser. A significant landmark in the area is the Minden Aqueduct, which carries the Mittelland Canal over the river.
