A convent is an enclosed community composed of monks, nuns, friars, or religious sisters. The individuals who reside within such a community are referred to as conventuals.
The term also refers to the physical building used by these religious communities. Convents are most commonly associated with the Catholic, Lutheran, and Anglican traditions.
