Council Grove is a city located in Morris County, Kansas, in the United States. It serves as the county seat for the region and had a population of 2,140 according to the 2020 census.
The city was named following an agreement between American settlers and the Osage Nation, which permitted wagon trains to travel westward through the area along the Santa Fe Trail. The name originates from a grove of trees where pioneers would gather to band their wagons together for the journey west.
