Evansville is a city located in Vanderburgh County, Indiana, United States. It serves as the county seat and is the third-most populous city in the state of Indiana. According to the 2020 census, the city has a population of 118,414, making it the most populous city in Southern Indiana and the 249th-most populous city in the United States.
The city functions as the central hub for the Evansville metropolitan area, which encompasses over 911,000 people across the Illinois–Indiana–Kentucky tri-state area. It is a primary center for commercial, medical, and cultural activity within southwestern Indiana. Geographically, the 38th parallel north crosses the city's north side and is marked on Interstate 69 near its junction with Indiana 62 on the east side.
