Delphi is an ancient sacred precinct located in central Greece. In legend, the site was previously referred to as Pytho.
The location served as the seat of the Pythia, a major oracle who provided guidance on important decisions throughout the ancient classical world. The ancient Greeks identified Delphi as the center of the world, a belief symbolized by a stone monument known as the Omphalos of Delphi. The term omphalos translates to "navel" in Greek.
