Gurnee is a village located in Lake County, Illinois, within the United States. Situated in the Chicago metropolitan area, it borders the city of Waukegan and is positioned approximately 40 miles north of Chicago and 50 miles south of Milwaukee.
The village was founded in 1928 and takes its name from former Chicago mayor Walter S. Gurnee. According to the 2020 census, the population of Gurnee was 30,706.
