Keosauqua is a city located in the state of Iowa, United States. It serves as the county seat for Van Buren County. According to the 2020 census, the city had a population of 936 residents.
The area was originally inhabited by the Meskwaki and Sauk people before it became U.S. territory in 1832 as part of the Black Hawk Purchase. European settlers subsequently "laid out" the city in 1839.
