Kāneʻohe is a census-designated place (CDP) located on the island of Oʻahu in the state of Hawaiʻi. It is situated within the City and County of Honolulu and falls under the District of Koʻolaupoko.
The name Kāneʻohe translates to "bamboo man" in the Hawaiian language. According to local tradition, the name originates from an ancient story in which a woman compared her husband's cruelty to the sharp edge of cutting bamboo.
