Kailua is a census-designated place located in Honolulu County, Hawaii, in the United States. It is situated on the windward coast at Kailua Bay within the Koʻolaupoko District on the island of Oʻahu.
The area falls within the judicial district and the ahupua'a named Ko'olaupoko. Geographically, it is positioned approximately 12 miles (19 km) northeast of Honolulu, situated over Nu‘uanu Pali.
