Hilo is a city located on the Island of Hawaiʻi in the United States. It serves as the county seat of Hawaiʻi County and is classified as a census-designated place (CDP). According to the 2020 census, the city has a population of 44,186.
The settlement ranks as the fourth-largest in the state of Hawaiʻi. It is notably the largest settlement in the state situated outside of Oahu, as well as the largest settlement located outside of the Greater Honolulu Area.
