Tallahassee is the capital city of the U.S. state of Florida. It serves as the county seat of and is the only incorporated municipality within Leon County. The city became the capital of both Florida and the Florida Territory in 1824.
As of 2024, Tallahassee has an estimated population of 205,089, making it the eighth-most populous city in the state. It is the principal city of the Tallahassee, Florida Metropolitan Statistical Area, which had an estimated population of 397,675 in 2024. Additionally, it is the largest city located within the Florida Big Bend and Florida Panhandle regions.
