Perry is an alcoholic beverage produced from the fermentation of pears. It is traditionally consumed in several regions worldwide, including England, parts of South Wales, France, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.
The beverage typically has an alcohol content ranging from 5 to 8% ABV. However, it can be distilled into calvados with an alcohol content of 40–43% ABV or blended with additional pear juice to create a fortified drink containing approximately 17% ABV.
While historically established in various international regions, interest is currently growing in artisanal perry production within the fruit-growing areas of the northwest United States.
