Capitol Hill is a neighborhood located in Washington, D.C., spanning both the Northeast and Southeast quadrants of the city. It is bounded by 15th Street SE & NE, F Street NE, Southeast Boulevard SE, and South Capitol Street SE. The area is one of the oldest historic districts in the capital and is characterized by a high concentration of rowhouses primarily dating back to the 19th century.
The neighborhood is dominated by the United States Capitol building, which occupies the highest point of the hill. Due to its high density, it is home to approximately 35,000 people within an area of just under 2 square miles. Additionally, the name "Capitol Hill" is frequently used as a metonym for the U.S. Congress.
