The Kiowa, also known as the Ǥáuigú people, are a Native American tribe and Indigenous people of the Great Plains in the United States. Historically, they migrated southward from western Montana into the Rocky Mountains of Colorado during the 17th and 18th centuries before moving into the Southern Plains by the early 19th century.
In 1867, the Kiowa were forced onto a reservation located in southwestern Oklahoma. They are recognized as one of the primary Indigenous groups native to the Great Plains region.
