Colorado Springs is a home rule city located in east-central Colorado, United States. It serves as the county seat and the most populous city in El Paso County. Situated on Fountain Creek, the city is located approximately 70 miles (113 km) south of Denver.

As of the 2020 census, Colorado Springs had a population of 478,961, representing a 15.02% increase since 2010. It is the second-most populous city and the most extensive city by area in the state of Colorado. Additionally, it ranks as the 40th-most-populous city in the United States.

The city serves as the principal hub of the Colorado Springs metropolitan area, which had a population of 755,105 in 2020. It is also recognized as the second-most prominent city within the Front Range Urban Corridor.
