Thousand Oaks is a city located in the northwestern part of Greater Los Angeles in California. It serves as the second-largest city within Ventura County.
The city is situated approximately 15 miles (24 km) from the city of Los Angeles and 40 miles (64 km) from Downtown Los Angeles. It derives its name from the numerous oak trees found throughout the area.
