Santa Clarita is a suburban city located in northwestern Los Angeles County, California, in the United States. Situated approximately 30 miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles, the city occupies 70.75 square miles of land within the Santa Clarita Valley along the Santa Clara River.
As of the 2020 census, Santa Clarita had a population of 228,673, making it the third-most populous city in Los Angeles County and the 17th-most populous in California. The city is characterized as a classic example of a U.S. edge city, satellite city, or boomburb.
