Redwood City is a city located in San Mateo County, California, within the United States. It is situated on the San Francisco Peninsula in the Bay Area of Northern California, positioned approximately 27 miles (43 km) south of San Francisco and 24 miles (39 km) northwest of San Jose.
According to the 2020 census, the city had a population of 84,292. A notable geographic and industrial feature of the area is the Port of Redwood City, which serves as the only deepwater port on San Francisco Bay located south of San Francisco.
