Oildale is a census-designated place (CDP) located in Kern County, California, in the United States. It is situated at an elevation of 469 feet (143 m), approximately 3.5 miles (5.6 km) north-northwest of downtown Bakersfield.
The community serves as an unincorporated suburban town positioned just north of Bakersfield across the Kern River. It lies west of the Kern River Oil Field and east of Highway 99. According to census data, the population grew from 27,885 in 2000 to 32,684 in 2010, reaching a total of 35,520 by the 2020 census.
